Now let’s review superlatives and comparatives. Follow this Link and listen to the song to fill in the blanks.

Sexto: Comparatives/ Superlatives 2

1. Let’s do some more work with comparatives

You need to write two sentences for each picture using the comparative form. (The words will be given to you.) Remember when we use the comparative form we add -er to the end of the word. However there are some irregular verbs so the spelling will change! Also, if the word has three syllables or more... “intelligent” we add more instead of adding -er..... “more intelligent”.

1. Strong/ Tall
2. Old/ Small
3. High/ Athletic
4. Hungry/ Healthy

      2. Now let’s work a little with superlatives

You need to write one sentence for each of these words: Strong, Intelligent, Good, Dangerous and Funny. Remember when we use superlatives the words end in -st. When the words have 3 syllables or more “dangerous”....we add most... “most dangerous.”

1. Strong
2. Intelligent
3. Good
4.Dangerous
5.Funny

3. Fill in the blanks of the song by listening to the song. Try without looking up the words and have some fun!

Young          Journey          Older        Eyes           Forever
Wiser            Prize          Was lost       Two hands

Sexto: Matter 2

Today you will be doing a Science Experiment! Follow the directions below to make Oobleck

Outrageous Ooze: Is it liquid or solid?
 What do I need?15 minutes
  • newspaper
  • measuring cups
  • 1 cup of dry cornstarch (maicena)
  • large bowl or pan
  • food coloring (if you want)
  • 1/2 cup of water
 Play with Ooze!

 What do I do?

1Put newspaper down on your counter or table top.

2Put the cornstarch into the bowl. Add a drop or two of food coloring. (Use whatever colors you like.) Add water slowly, mixing the cornstarch and water with your fingers until all the powder is wet.

3Keep adding water until the Ooze feels like a liquid when you're mixing it slowly. Then try tapping on the surface with your finger or a spoon. When Ooze is just right, it won't splash--it will feel solid. If you Ooze is too powdery, add a little more water. If it's too wet, add more cornstarch.

4Play around with your Ooze!
Let Ooze drip through your fingers!
  • Pick up a handful and squeeze it. Stop squeezing and it will drip through your fingers.
  • Rest your fingers on the surface of the Ooze. Let them sink down to the bottom of the bowl. Then try to pull them out fast. What happens?
  • Take a blob and roll it between your hands to make a ball. Then stop rolling. The Ooze will trickle away between your fingers.
  • Put a small plastic toy on the surface. Does it stay there or does it sink?

What's Going On?
1. Is it a solid or a liquid?
2. What is it’s mass?
3. What is it’s volume?
4. Take a photo or a video of you playing with the Oobleck?

Cuarto: Matter 2

Remember Matter can be measured by mass (the amount of matter in an object) and volume (how much space an object occupies).

However, Matter can be in three states: Liquid, Solid and Gas. Watch the video below to review mass and volume and to learn about liquids, solids and gases.

Now we are going to do an experiment with liquids and solids. Follow the directions below and you will have a treat for this warm weather!

Ingredients:

  • Can of frozen orange juice
  • Pitcher
  • Large spoon
  • Water
  • Paper cups or glass cups
  • Wooden craft sticks

Directions:

Step 1: Fill several paper cups about 2/3 of the way with orange juice.
Step 2: Put a craft stick into the liquid in each paper cup.
Step 3: Being careful not to spill, put the cups of juice into the freezer.
Step 4: Check them after two hours. Can you gently pull out the craft stick, or has the liquid orange juice frozen solid around the stick?
Step 5: Once the orange juice has frozen, peel off the paper cups. You and your friends can enjoy a frozen treat!

1.What is the name of the process of when a liquid becomes a solid?
