Sexto: Past Simple and Continuous

Hey guys! Today we’ll be doing some activities with past simple and past continuous. I know...grammar...why? It’s very important to know how to use the past correctly. When you do, you can tell your friends what you did during the weekend or what happened when you were walking outside.

 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Past simpleis used for past actions that happened either at a specific time, which can either be given by a time phrase (yesterday, last year, last week etc.) or understood from the context.

Regular Verbs add -ed to the base form, or -d if the verbs ends with -e:

Walk- walked        Jump- jumped       Cook- cooked        Watch- watched

Irregular verbs do not follow rules. Here are examples of a few:

Swim- swam       Eat- ate       Drink- drank      Do- did       Speak- spoke       Was- were

1. Play the Kahoot game below to practice past simple. (Number 6 is wrong so skip it)

Past continuousis used to show that an ongoing past action was happening at a specific moment of interruption, or that two ongoing actions were happening at the same time.
